Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). The exercise challenges graduate students to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance in just three minutes. 3MT® develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students' capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience according to our guidelines.
In response to the need to follow social distancing measures, The University of Queensland has developed official rules for holding university competitions remotely. In order to compete this year, students will submit a video recording of their 3 minute presentation and powerpoint slide following these rules by November 6th. All registrants will receive a confirmation email that includes an upload link along with further directions for submitting their recording and slide by November 9th. The deadline to complete the online registration is November 1st, a week before all submissions are due.
The preliminary rounds of the 3MT® competition will take place remotely via zoom on Wednesday, November 11, beginning at 12 pm, and on Thursday, November 12, beginning at 2 pm.
Following the prelims, finalists will move on to a second round of virtual competitions on Thursday, December 17th beginning at 2pm.
