Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). The exercise challenges graduate students to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance in just three minutes. 3MT® develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students' capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience according to our guidelines.
Now that we are holding the competition in person again, we are following the University of Queensland's official rules for holding university competitions live. In order to compete this year, students will register online in order to submit their powerpoint slide according to the guidelines by Friday, November 12th. All registrants will receive a confirmation email that includes an upload link along with further directions for submitting their slide.
A competitor guide is available to assist students developing their video presentations.
The preliminary rounds of the 3MT® competition will take place on Wednesday, November 17, beginning at 12 pm, and on Thursday, November 18, beginning at 2 pm.
Following the prelims, finalists will move on to a second round of competitions on Thursday, January13th beginning at 6pm.
