English PhD alumnus Jack Bedell was recently named a Louisiana of the Year by Louisiana Life Magazine. This list is comprised of individuals who are impacting their industry on a local, national, or international level -- as well as within the communities they reside in. 

Bedell, who currently serves as the 2017-2019 poet Laureate, has published nine books of poetry and currently serves as a professor of English at Southeastern Louisiana University. He joins six others -- ranging from artists and musicians to entrepreneurs -- on this year's list.
