Effective 1 September 2004 and updated October 2008, international students
(F-1 and J-1 visa applicants) applying for admission to an American university
are required to pay a SEVIS I-901 fee to the United States Department of
Homeland Security.
- F-1 visa applicants ($200 US)
- J-1 visa applicants ($180 US)

NOTE for UL Lafayette Applicants:
To be able to pay this fee, individuals:
- must be admitted to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and
- must be in receipt of an I-20 or DS-2019 that contains a SEVIS ID
number.
