- Graduate School at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers
rigorous scholarship in a distinctive setting.
UL Lafayette is the state’s second largest university with more
than 16,000 students, including 1,400 graduate students. It’s located
in the heart of French Louisiana, which is known for its incredible
Cajun and Creole cuisine, Cajun and Zydeco music, and lush, verdant
landscapes.
The Graduate School has 26 master’s degrees, nine doctoral degrees,
and three non-degree programs. For more information on these visit

Its faculty are chosen for their expertise as educators and penchant
for research. That’s a powerful combination for students who are
looking for enthusiastic, invigorating mentors in their fields of
study.
UL Lafayette’s stature as a research university is evidenced by
the prestigious Carnegie Foundation’s designation as a "Research
University with High Research Activity." To put that in perspective,
other institutions in that category include Clemson University,
Auburn University, and Baylor University.
Academic resources are substantial. UL Lafayette, for instance,
has one of the most technologically sophis ticated libraries in
Louisiana and two supercomputers that are connected to the National
Lambda Rail, a nationwide optical infrastructure that enables students
to collaborate on computer-based research projects.
There are more than two dozen research centers at UL Lafayette,
including:
- The Louisiana Immersive Technologies Center, a cutting-edge
visualization environment;
- National biological and environmental centers, such as the
USGS National Wetlands Research Center and the Estuarine Habitats
Coastal Fisheries Research Center; and
- The Center for Louisiana Studies, which concentrates on the
state’s history and cultures.
UL Lafayette has earned national attention for providing a quality
education at a reasonable cost. Many of our graduate students receive
